Funeral Services for Winifred A. Johnson age 100 of Neligh, Nebraska were 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 8, 2011 at Snider Memorial Funeral Home, Clearwater, with Pastor Carroll Plisek, Officiating. Burial will be in the Clearwater Cemetery. Pallbearers were Rick Hank, Jack Hank, Roger Lau, Bob Lau, Dan Lau, Aaron Johnson, Nathan Johnson, and Joshua Johnson. Honorary Pallbearers were Pam Daugherty, Diane Sullivan, Sherri Sommers, Beverly Johnson, and Jennifer Stanzel. Visitation was Thursday, July 7, 2011 from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Snider Memorial Funeral Home in Clearwater. Winifred passed away Monday, July 4, 2011 at the Antelope Memorial Hospital in Neligh, Nebraska. Winifred Antonia Ada (Taylor) Johnson was born October 6, 1910 to Harry and Emma (Reinke) Taylor. She was born and raised on the family farm south of Clearwater. Winifred attended District 70 through 8th grade and graduated from Ewing High School in 1929. She then taught school at District 100 in Antelope County for 1 year. Winifred was united in marriage to Kermit Johnson on July 3, 1931. She was a devoted farm wife and mother. She stayed on the farm until moving to Neligh in 1973. Winifred enjoyed sewing, quilting, and reading. She was also a 4-H leader and active member of the Rosedale and Clearwater Creek Extension Clubs. In later years she worked at L Bar B and The White Spot.

She enjoyed spending time with family and spent many hours piecing quilts for her family and friends. Winifred also stayed busy making pillow case dolls, bears, sock monkeys, Raggedy Ann & Andy dolls, and Cabbage Patch Dolls. Over the years she had made over 200 quilts including one for each child, grandchild, great-grandchild and great-great grandchild.

Winifred was preceded in death by her husband, Kermit in 1967; her parents, brothers (Raymond, Chester, Vincent, and Russell) and a grandson, Gary Hank.

She is survived by 2 daughters and 2 sons; Donna (Rollie) Hank, Clearwater, NE; Eldon (Darlene) Johnson, Des Moines, IA; Janice (Ron) Lau, Johnson Lake, NE; and Steven (Jane) Johnson, Neligh, NE. She is also survived by a sister Maxine Wilson of Rapid City, SD; 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, 6 step great-grandchildren, 8 great-great grandchildren, 6 step great-great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews and a host of friends and relatives.
