Funeral Services for Wallace R. Twiss age 92 of Clearwater, Ne will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, April 7, 2008 at United Methodist Church in Clearwater with Pastor Sharee Johnson, officiating. Burial will be in the Clearwater Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, April 6, 2008 from 4:00 " 7:00 p.m. with a 6:30 Prayer Service at Snider Memorial Funeral Home in Clearwater. Wally passed away April 4, 2008 at the Golden Living Center in Neligh, Ne.
Wallace Riley Twiss was born August 6, 1915 at the Deloit Community the son of Earl and Jennie (Nolze) Twiss. He attended rural country school at Deloit. He later began working for the Civilian Conservation Corp. in South Dakota. On August 2, 1941 he was united in marriage to Sara Alderson at Stanton, NE. To this marriage a son Richard was born. The couple made their home in Grant for a short while where he worked for the Utility Co. before they returned to Clearwater and drove truck for Lloyd Aschraft hauling pigs to the west coast. Wally and Sara built their new house in 1970. Wally then began driving school bus for Clearwater Public School. After retiring they enjoyed camping with the Weekend Wanders and wintering in Texas and Arizona for the winter. Wally enjoyed fishing, playing cards, traveling, gardening and yardwork and playing pool with friends.
Survivors include his wife Sara of Neligh; sisters: Carolyn "Marcene"and Lyle Williams of Broken Bow, Ne., Olive Nikles of Lincoln, Ill., Melpha and Fred Hiser of Litchfield, Ne., Charlene and Walt Lange of Clearwater, Ne., special nieces Janelle Erb and Sharon Wilkinson, and several other nieces, nephews, family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Richard, brothers; Earl, Cleo "Pete", Ernest "Ted", sisters: Angie Watson, Alice Kern, Mary "Mackie" Patras, and Winifred Twiss.
