Funeral Services for Keith Bartak age 81 of Ewing, will be Thursday, July 9 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Catholic Church rural Clearwater. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 to 7:30 p.m. with a 7:30 Wake Service at the church. Military Rites will be provided by Sander's American Legion Post #214 of Ewing. Keith passed away July 6, 2015 at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk. Snider Memorial Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Vern Keith Bartak was born April 9, 1934 to Berniece (Lodge) and Lambert Bartak in Ewing, NE. He attended school at Bartlett and Ewing graduating with the Class of 1951. After graduation he attended Norfolk Jr. College in Norfolk, NE. Enlisted in the United States Army on February 2, 1954 at Omaha, NE and discharged on December 7, 1955 at Ft. Sheridan, IL. On May 12, 1956, he was united in marriage to Jacquette "Jackie" Mosel at St. John's Catholic Church. Keith was a farmer and rancher all his life. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards and especially spending time with his family. Jackie and Keith enjoyed traveling and bus tours. He was member of Ewing Sanders American Legion Post #214 and St. John's Catholic Church where he was trustee. He also was on the School Board District #173. He is survived by his wife, Jackie Bartak of Ewing, NE. Children: Ann and husband, Kevin Kurpgeweit of Ewing, NE; Beth Hynes of Ewing, NE; Matt Bartak of Ewing, NE; Peg Abels of Kearney, NE; and daughter-in-law Barb Bartak of Ewing, NE. 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren: Jami and husband, Brent Schmidt, children, Noah and Will, Amanda and husband, Nate Dillon and children, Jacson and Phillip, Amber Bartak, Brooke Bartak, Heather Bartak, Michael Hynes, Laura Hynes, Megan Biddlecome, Alex Abels, Matthew Kurpgeweit and Emily Kurpgeweit. Sister, Doris "DeDe" Gibbs, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents and sons, Steve and Mike.
