Funeral Service for Vaulda M. Welke age 93 formally of Ewing, Ne will be 10:30 Thursday, June 16, 2016 at United Methodist Presbyterian Church in Ewing, NE with Pastor Stuart Davis, Officiating. Burial in Ewing City Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at Snider Memorial Funeral Home in Clearwater, NE. Vaulda passed away Friday, June 10, 2016 at the Golden Living Center in Neligh, NE. Snider Memorial Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Vaulda Maude Welke was born on February 4, 1923 to Edwin H. and Harriet E. (Swain) Welke at Ewing, Nebraska. She had two older brothers and two older sisters. She attended school in Ewing and graduating from Ewing High School. She taught 4 years at a country school South of Ewing. She then went to Wayne State College to get her teaching degree. She then taught in Ewing until 1949 when she decided to go back to Wayne State to get her B.A. Degree. She taught numerous places like Burwell, Holdrege, Newman Grove, and Superior. She then went back to Wayne and got her Masters Degree in Elementary Education. She filled in teaching at Atkinson and her final 2 years of teaching were in Raeville, NE. When not teaching she would stayed with elderly or sick people in Inman, O'Neill, Norfolk, Page, Chambers, Clearwater, in and around Ewing and Omaha. She enjoyed traveling with the Teacher's Tour Group and visiting family members. She enjoyed photography, playing cards Kings Corner was her favorite, Cross word puzzles, reading, and she was an avid Husker football Fan. She was a member of United Methodist Presbyterian Church where she was involved with the United Methodist Women Group and bible study. Survived by nieces: Marcene Wright of O'Neill, NE, Bonnie Welke of Ainsworth, NE, Debbie (Terry) Walnofer of Charleston,AK, and Sue and (Kenny) Kallhoff of Neligh, NE. Nephews: Elton (Bonnie) Welke of Kirkland, WA, Milan (Ruth) Welke of Ewing, NE, Richard (Jeannie) Shain of Casper, WY, and Mike (Karen) Schmiser of Ft. Smith, AK. Many great nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. Preceded in death by her parents and all her siblings: Elton (Elsie) Welke, Leland (Sibyl) Welke, Anemone (Dick) Shain, and Electa (Clarence) Schmiser.
