Funeral services for Thomas A. Lucas age 94 of Clearwater will be at 10:30 am Thursday, February 1, 2007 at Snider Memorial Funeral Home in Clearwater with pastor Sharee Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the Clearwater Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8:00 pm Wednesday, January 31, 2007 with a 7:00 pm prayer service at Snider Memorial Funeral Home in Clearwater. Tom passed away Sunday January 28, 2007 at the Golden Living Center in Neligh. Memorials may be directed to the Clearwater United Methodist Church. Thomas Arnold Lucas was born December 31,1912 in rural Elgin the son of Alfred and Nora (Wilcox) Lucas. He grew up in the rural Clearwater and attended rural country schools. He worked as a farmhand in rural Clearwater- Ewing area growing up. On December 28, 1935 at the Evangelistic Parsonage at West Point, NE he was united in marriage to Berneice Anna Daniels his wife of 71 years. In the 1940�s they moved to California working odd jobs and then went to work for Beeson Brothers installing sprinkler systems. In 1945 they moved to Tooele, UT to install sprinkler systems in an Ordiance Depot. In 1947 the couple moved back to Elgin, NE and worked for Moorman Feed Co.. In 1950 he became foreman on the Buell ranch at Rose, NE. 1961 he became a carpenter at Bassett, NE and moved back to Clearwater in 1963 to work as a carpenter, electrician, custodian at the Clearwater Public School. Tom loved to work and be a handyman and a �Jack of all trades�. In recent years the couple resided in Neligh. Tom was a member of the Clearwater United Methodist Church. He was a past member of the Clearwater Volunteer Fire and Rescue Dept., and the Clearwater Cemetery Board. He enjoyed hunting especially deer, Bowling, carpentering, cards and games. Survivors include his wife Berneice, 2 daughters: Marlene and her husband Bob Brady of Omaha, NE, and Ardene McCall of Sioux Falls, SD; 6 grandchildren; 7 greatgrandchildren; and 3 great-greatgrandchildren; 2 sisters: Verla Hixson of Clearwater, and Norma Seier of Wray, CO. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son in law David McCall, 3 brothers: Willie, Floyd and Arthur Lucas; and 3 sisters: Nola Thompson, Ellen Kimes, and Evelyn Lucas.
