Funeral Service for Thomas L. Kimes age 87 of Clearwater, Nebraska will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 10, 2025 at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church rural Clearwater with Father John Norman. Burial will be St. Patricks’ Catholic Cemetery rural Clearwater with Military Rites conducted by Clearwater American Legion Post 267 and Sons of Legion. Visitation will be Wednesday, 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church rural Clearwater with wake service at 7:00 p.m. at the church. Thomas Loyd Kimes was born on April 9, 1937 and was adopted by Loyd and Eleanor (Lucas) Kimes on August 29, 1937 in Omaha, Nebraska. He attended school in Clearwater and graduated with the Class of 1954. He attended 1 year of college for education. He was drafted to the United States Army on November 2, 1960 and was discharged on August 3, 1962 and entered the Army Reserves until November 1, 1966. He was united in marriage to Elaine Funk on October 16, 1965 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. He taught school for 6 years at county school. He farmed and raised Registered Hereford Cattle. He was a member of the American Hereford Association. Tom was a member of St. John's the Baptist Catholic Church along with playing and singing in the St. John’s Choir for many years. Tom and Elaine taught natural family planning for couples for 25 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family.
Survived by his wife, Elaine of Clearwater, NE. Children: Joellen Dooner of Gettysburg, PA; Ann and husband, Tim Sydow of Sergeant Bluff, IA; Aaron and wife, Terra Kimes of Neligh, NE; and Nathan Kimes of Chicago, IL; and Mary Louise and husband, Steve Sadler of Omaha, NE; and John Paul Kimes and Elizabeth Anderson of LeMars, IA, Grandchildren: Ilsa, Emma, Juliet, Everett Dooner; Krystopher, Bryce, and Zach Sydow; Connor (Whitney) Bentley, Chris (Lexi) Bentley, Cambree Kimes; Cenze, Emma, Aubrey, and Chase. Great grandchildren: Wrenlee, Aiden Bentley, and Rhett Bentley and Ella.
Preceded in death by his parents, parent-in-law Clarence and Alice Funk; grandson Elloitt.
