Thomas L. Finley Funeral services for Thomas L. Finley age 62 of Norfolk will be at 10:30 am Friday, March 30, 2007 at the Our Savior Lutheran Church in Norfolk with Pastor Lee Weander officiating. Burial will be at 2:00 pm at the Clearwater Cemetery in Clearwater with military rites conducted by AM. Legion Post # 267 of Clearwater. Visitation will be 4 to 8:00 pm with a 7:00 pm prayer service Thursday, March 29, 2007 at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Norfolk. Tom passed away Sunday, March 25, 2007 at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk. Thomas LaVern Finley was born September 29, 1944 at O�Neill, Ne the son of Howard LaVern and Lois (Filsinger) Finley. Tom was baptized at Concordia Lutheran Church in Clearwater. He was confirmed at St. Peter�s Lutheran Church, Orchard. He grew up in Ewing and graduated from Ewing High School with the class of 1962. He was inducted into the Armed Forces of the United States on January 30, 1964 and departed service January 16, 1967 during this time is when he received his training in office management. Tom returned home and began work in O�Neill at Niobrara Valley Electric Membership Corporation as the office manager. On April 11, 1970 at Concordia Lutheran Church he was united in marriage to Bonnie Snider. The couple made their home in O�Neill until 1993 when they moved to Hartington, Ne where he became the general manager of the Cedar-Knox Public Power District. Tom retired in 2005 and moved to Norfolk in 2006. Tom was a charter member of the Nebraska Rural Electric Credit Union. He was secretary of the Nebraska Public Agency Investment Trust from 1998-2005. He was also very active on various boards and committees during his 39 years with Nebraska Rural Electric Association. He was past treasurer of Christ Lutheran Church in O�Neill. Tom was a past member of the O�Neill American Legion Post and current member of the Hartington American Legion Post and a life member of the American Vets. Tom loved being surrounded by his grandkids and family. He enjoyed cooking & grilling at various family events. He enjoyed golfing, camping, computers and Nebraska Sports. Survivors include his wife Bonnie of Norfolk, 4 children: Jennifer and Mark Bazyn of Norfolk; Melissa and Jason Vietor of Norfolk; Nancy and Carl Schieffer of Crofton; and David Finley of Norfolk. 5 grandchildren: Vanessa, Austin and Peyton Vietor, Josie Bazyn and Hannah Schieffer: a sister Marilyn Good of Ewing: many relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law James Good, nieces Cynthia Larson and Julie Wright.
