Memorial Service for Terry D. Hughes age 54 of Neligh, NE will be 7:00 p.m. Friday, August 18, 2017 at United Methodist Church in Neligh, with Pastor Bruce Phillips, Officiating in Neligh, Ne. In Lieu of flowers the family is going collect and direct all memorials to Multiple Myeloma Research at the University of Nebraska Medical Center where Terry received treatment. Terry Dee Hughes was born on November 3, 1962 to Duane and Russellin Kay (Swanson) Hughes in Lodi, CA. He grew up at Bakersfield, California and in Washington State. On November 16, 1991, he was united in marriage to Dannette Dennis in Reno, Nevada. Terry worked as a mechanic most of his life and purchased an auto repair business from his brother in law in Issaquah Washington where he and Dannette both worked for many years. In 2006 Terry and Dannette decided to sell their business and move to Neligh. Terry enjoyed remodeling and building houses with his wife Dannette. Terrys hobbies were work, construction projects and fixing things he also enjoyed attempting to catch fish in his new boat. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends but especially enjoyed his grandchildren who brought him many smiles during his battle with Multiple Myeloma. He was also a member of the Neligh Fire Department he loved being a part of the brotherhood.
Survived by his wife, Dannette. Children: Michaela (Ross) Potter of Neligh, NE, Terra Hughes of Washington State, and Dennis (Zuzanna) Hughes of Neligh, NE. 6 grandchildren Rayne, Dade, Kayne and Jordan Potter, Wesson and Arayannah Hughes. Sisters: Michelle (Ray) Rios of San Diego, CA and Connie Phillips of NC. Father and Mother in law Jr and Judy Dennis of Neligh, NE along 3 brothers in laws, 2 sisters in laws and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, brother in law Denny Dennis, nephew Scott Dennis, uncle Pete West, Vicki Herndon and good friends Craig and Bruce.
