Funeral Service for Selma F. Wilson, age 99 of Neligh, Nebraska were at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at the United Methodist Church in Neligh with Pastor Carroll Plisek, Officiating. Music was provided by Marie Krohn, Pianist and Dave Doeschot, Soloist. Burial will be in the Laurel Hills Cemetery in Neligh. Pallbearers were Raymond Olson, Alvin Olson, Steve Olson, Dan Olson, Allan Rittscher, and Gale Rittscher. Visitation was from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at Snider Memorial Funeral Home in Neligh. Selma passed away April 18, 2010 at the Golden Living Center in Neligh, NE. Snider Memorial Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
Selma was born on a farm near Stanton on October 21, 1910 to Andrew and Maude (Strope) Olson, the youngest of 5 children. When she was 6 months old the family moved to a farm 10 miles South-West of Neligh. She attended school in District #70 in Antelope County and Graduated from the Clearwater High School in 1929. On November 24, 1932 she was married to Oscar Wilson. They lived southwest of Neligh. Three children were born to the couple. They moved south of Clearwater in 1938. While living in the country she wrote news for many years for 3 local papers. Oscar passed away in May, 1980. She moved to Neligh and still resides there. She was very active in the Antelope Creek Church and WSCS. She spent a few years volunteering in the craft room at the Neligh Nursing home. For several years she led a Bible class at Pioneer Homes. She was a member of the Neligh United Methodist Church, at the time of her death.
She is survived by her daughter and Husband, Mardelle and Jack Blair of Elgin, NE; 2 Grandsons and their wives, Dennis and Priscilla Blair of Elgin, NE and Kurt and Linda Blair of Elgin, NE. Three great granddaughters; Stephanie (& husband Scott) Stuhr and Kristen Blair; and Mindy Blair. One Great Grandson, Anthony Blair. 1 great great granddaughter, Samantha Stuhr.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband. Two children in infancy. 2 Brothers and 2 Sisters; Merwin Olson, Madge York, Ruth Clark, and Ronald Olson. 1 great grandson, Adam Blair.
