Funeral Service for Patty E. Van Ert age 86, of Neligh, Nebraska will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Neligh with Father Pat Nields, officiating. Burial will be Laurel Cemetery in Neligh. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Neligh with Wake Service will be at 7:00 p.m. Beyer Snider Memorial Funeral is handling the arrangements. Patty passed away Sunday, March 24, 2024 at Bryan East Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska. Condolences may be directed to the family at www.beyersnidermemoiralfh.com
Patty Elaine Van Ert was born on September 1, 1937 to Clarence and Anna Mae (Cooper) Anderson at Meadow Grove, Nebraska. She grew up in Meadow Grove and attended school there and graduated with the Class of 1954. She received her two year Certificate from Wayne State and also received her Bachelors of Education. On December 31, 1958 she was united in marriage to James Van Ert at St. Francis Catholic Church in Neligh. She started her teaching career in Tilden and taught at County Schools District 16, District 15, and District 83. In 1981, she started teaching full time at Clearwater School teaching 3rd grade, until retiring in 1999, she continued substitute until 2020. Patty enjoyed decorating, playing piano, doing puzzles, traveling, entertaining people and spending time with her coffee groups, and playing cards. She enjoyed pet dogs and her flowers, especially roses. She was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church and Rosary Sodality, Teachers Association, retired teachers group and was secretary of NSEA for years.
Survived by her children: Teresa and Chet Schade of Neligh, NE; Charles Van Ert and friend Stephanie of Grand Island, NE; Anita and Charley Donason of Neligh, NE; Stephanie and Curt Graber of Fort Wayne, IN; Audrey and John Meier of Pierce, NE; Jamie Van Ert of Norfolk, NE. Grandchildren: Brent, Nicole, Alyssa, Greg, Wes, Lisa, Sarah, Adam, Ashley, Abby, Nate, Austin, and Brandon. 22 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
