Funeral Service for Michael Joseph (Joe) Tagel, Sr age 69 of Ewing, Ne were 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at St. John's Catholic Church rural Clearwater with Father James Kramper, Officiating. Music provided by Tom Kimes and St. John's Choir. Burial was at St. Anthony's Cemetery rural Ewing. Pallbearers were Jake Schindler, Eddie Schindler, Stuart McDonald, Butch Rotherham, Jack McGinn, and Tom Mlnarik. Visitation was from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at St. John's Catholic Church with a 7:00 p.m. Wake Service. Joe passed away Friday, April 10, 2015 at Antelope Memorial Hospital in Neligh. Michael Joseph (Joe) Tagel, Sr was born on November 21, 1945 to Ludwig and Loretta (Thramer) Tagel at Norfolk, Ne. Attended school at Ewing and graduated with the Class of 1964. He then attended college at UNL in agriculture. Went into the National Guard in 1965 to 1971. On October 25, 1969 he was united in marriage to Susan Peetz at St. Francis Catholic Church in Neligh, Ne. To this union five children were born, Michelle, Michael, Brian, Chris, and Sarah. Joe was a farmer and laborer, always doing something. When Joe was younger he enjoyed Golden Gloves Boxing but also enjoyed golfing, fishing, and socializing with friends - driving back roads. He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and Sander American Legion Post #214. He is survived by children: Michelle Tagel and finance' Troy Krasser of Papillion, Ne, Michael Jr. and wife Jodie Tagel of Springfield, Ne, Brian and wife Jeanne Tagel of Millard, Ne, Chris and wife Angela Tagel of Orchard, Ne and Sarah and husband Brian Keegan of Ewing, Ne. 11 grandchildren and grand dog, Roodle. Sister, Elizabeth and husband Doug Schueths of Ewing, Ne, sister-in-law, Pam Tagel of Grand Island, Ne, and Brother-in-law, E.J. Opp of Wood River, Ne. Preceded in death by Parents, brother, John (Jack) Tagel, and sister Marilyn Jean.
