Services for Merle Filsinger age 84, of Fremont were Thursday, February 26, 2009 4:00 to 8:00 pm with a 7:00 pm Prayer Service at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont. Funeral Service were at 1:30 pm, Friday, February 27, 2009 at Snider Memorial Funeral Home in Clearwater with Pastor Michael Meyer, Officiating. Music was provided by Nellie Knapp, Organist. Pallbearers were Dale Filsinger, Dennis Herley, Paul Filsinger, Chris Herley, Terry Good, and Jim Anderson. Burial was in the Clearwater Cemetery. Visitation was from 10:00 am until time of service, Friday, February 27, 2009 at Snider Memorial Funeral Home in Clearwater.

Merle passed away Tuesday, February 24, 2009 in Fremont, Ne. Arrangements are being conducted by Snider Memorial Funeral Home of Clearwater.

Merle Dennis Filsinger was born on December 5, 1924 to Daniel and Ellen (Lymath) Filsinger in Clearwater, Nebraska. He attended District #100 Grade School, Graduated from Clearwater High School in 1941. On December 28, 1945 he married Maurine Kimes and lived on the family farm. They moved to Fremont in 1958 and worked as Sales Manager for Standard Chemical Feeds and at Farmers Union and Gambles Warehouse. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont. He enjoyed sports, singing, telling stories and jokes.

He is survived by his wife, Maurine; a son, Monty and his wife Tillie Filsinger of Fremont and their children: Jennifer and her husband Mike of Chicago, IL, and Maggie. Merle's daughter, Sandra and her husband Sam of Omaha, NE, her children: Nicole of Omaha and son Travis and his wife Jennifer of Eldridge, IA, Mark and Michael and his wife Lisa all of Knoxville, TN. 14 Great Grandchildren. A sister, Mildred Rutledge of Chadron.

Proceeded in death by his parents, 5 brothers: Edward, Raymond, Dean, Chuck, and infant Brother. 6 sisters: Ethel, Laura, Violet, Opal, Wilda, and Lois.
