Funeral Services for Melvin D. Marsh age 87 of Neligh, NE were 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at United Methodist Church with Pastor Gary Ganger, Officiating. Music was provided by Marie Krohn, Pianist. Soloist was Steve Johnson. Burial was in Oakdale Cemetery in Oakdale, NE. Pallbearers were Tedd Adams, Ted Hughes, Vince Sauser, Terry Novak, Bruce Hild, and Mark Jisa. Honorary Pallbearers were his grandchildren, Anita Hurt, Tammie Luchini, Brandon Decker, Jacob Skog, and Lucas Skog. Military Rites conducted by Tilden American Legion Post #170. Visitation was from 5:30 to 7 pm, Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at Beyer Snider Memorial Funeral Home in Neligh, NE. Melvin passed away on Sunday, June 16, 2013 at his home in Neligh, NE. Melvin was born on a farm in the Crawford Valley area to Murat and Zella (Smith) Marsh on November 14, 1925. He attended District #35 country school for ten years, and then went to Neligh High School. He worked for several neighbors doing farm work before entering the service in 1944. Melvin served in the Army Infantry with the 79th Division in Europe after receiving his basic training at Camp Roberts, CA. He received his discharge after the war in April of 1946. He was married to Ruth Adams on June 2, 1944. They lived on three different farms before moving to their present home just east of Neligh in 1952. Melvin served on the school board, co-op board, fair board, and county and township committees for many years. He was a member of the Methodist Church for over 70 years. He is survived by his wife, Ruth and four children, Barry (Alta) Marsh of Central City, NE, Pat Decker of Tilden, NE, Carla Schwahn of Seward, NE, and Jacque (Paul) Skog of Evanston, WY. Sister, Jan (Larry) Bartee of Tilden, NE. Brother, Allan (Nancy) Marsh of Neligh, NE. 6 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Preceding Melvin in death were his parents, three brothers Warren, Donald, and Eldon. Two sisters: Jean Evans and Alice Yelken. Son in law, Dick Schwahn Granddaughter, Andrea Marsh and grandson, Kaleb Skog.
