Funeral Services for Lyle F. Mitteis., age 99, of Clearwater, NE will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 8, 2019 at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, with Father James Kramper and Father John Norman, officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, August 7, 2019 from 5 - 7 p.m. at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church with a 7:00 p.m. Wake Service. Burial will be St. Theresa’s Catholic Cemetery with Military Rites conducted by Clearwater American Legion Post #267 and Legion Riders. Lyle passed away August 3, 2019 at Faith Regional Hospital in Norfolk. Snider Memorial Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Condolences may be directed to the family at

Lyle Fredrick Mitteis was born on May 13, 1920 to Harry and Freida (Stoltenberg) Mitteis at Venus, NE. He was drafted in the United States Army on February 11, 1942. While in the service he was in the 124th Cavalryat Ft. Brown and WWII. He was discharged on January 2, 1946 from Ft. Leavenworth, KS. He was united in marriage, On May 28, 1953 to Genevieve Vandersnick in Ewing, NE. They made their first home north of Orchard and later moved south of Ewing, where they farmed and raised their two children, Jim and Mary. He did construction with his brother, Bill and he also was a saw mill owner and operator. Genevieve and Lyle, raised their two grandsons: Travis and Luke. Lyle enjoyed his gardening and tinkering on his “projects”. Lyle was a member of St. Theresa’s Catholic Church.
Survived by son, Jim Mitties of O’Neill, NE and daughter Mary Chandler of Winner, SD. 6 Grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Brother, Bill Mitteis of Royal, NE.
Preceded in death by his parents, wife, 5 brothers, and 1 sister. Two granddaughters, Emily and Genny.
