Funeral Services for Lucille R. Kester, age 92, of Clearwater, NE, will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 10, 2018, at St. Theresa's Catholic Church in Clearwater, NE with Father John Norman, Father James Kramper, and Father Christopher Onuoha, Officiating. Burial will be at St. Theresa's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, March 9, 2018 at St. Theresa's Catholic Church and Wake at 7:00 p.m. Lucille passed away Monday, March 5, 2018 at Neligh Care and Rehabilitation Center in Neligh. Lucille Rose Kester was born September 11, 1925, to John and Josephine (Keber) Thiele at their home near Clearwater, NE. She grew up on the family farm, and at the age of 16 graduated from Clearwater High School and began teaching the following fall. She attended college summer sessions in Greeley, CO, and at Creighton University. After teaching for seven years, she was united in marriage to Harold Kester, Jr. of Neligh, on June 18, 1949, at St. Theresa's Catholic Church. They made their home and farmed north of Clearwater. Lucille was a member of St. Theresa's Catholic Church, where she was confirmed and served on the Altar Society. She taught CCD for many years, helping prepare the First Communion class. Lucille had a love of music. As a little girl, her "Papa" paid her to sing for all to hear. Later she was involved in local musicals and the Golden Tones. She was well known for always having a pan of buns ready for family and friends, and for keeping a large bucket of bubble gum just for grandkids and great grandkids.
Lucille is survived by her 10 children: Tim and wife Carol Kester, Tom and wife Diana Kester, Bob and wife Rita Kester, all of Clearwater; Kathy and husband Dave Zeleski of Denver, CO; LuAnn Kilpatrick of Jackson, WY; Terri and husband Paul Cammack of Lincoln, NE; John and wife Lee Ann Kester, Bill and wife Sandy Kester, Richard and wife Teresa Kester, all of Clearwater; Jennifer and husband Bill Johnson of Edgar, NE; 45 grandchildren, 104 great grandchildren, and a brother Louis and his wife Jeanette Thiele of Clearwater.
She was preceded in death by her husband Harold, her parents, a son Joe, a grandson Christopher Kester, a great granddaughter Chloe Kester, four brothers, five sisters and spouses.
