Funeral Services for Lewis Latzel age 84 of Neligh will be 10:00 am Monday, June 13, 2016 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Ewing, Ne. Burial will be in St. Anthony's Cemetery rural Ewing with Military Rites conducted by Sanders Post #214. Visitation will be 5 to 7 Sunday, June 12, 2016 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Ewing with a Wake Service at 7 p.m. Lewis passed away on June 8, 2016 at the Golden Living Center in Neligh. Latzel, age 84, passed away June 8, 2016 at Golden Living Center. Born in Ewing, NE to George and Mollie (Babutska) Latzel he worked as a ranch-hand at the Whitehouse Ranch in his youth. He joined the US Army and served in Korea, earning the Korean Service medal with two bronze service stars among others. After the military he made a life-long career as a welder, working for Shea Construction in California, Utah and Nevada and as a contracted welder/supervisor for the U.S. Air Force. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Marjorie Ann Smith and brothers Clarence, Fred, George and Bill Latzel and sisters, Darlene Latzel and Lorraine Bazelman. He is survived by step-daughter, Ann Basinger of Leoma, TN. Sister, Virginia Zietlow of Marshalltown, IA. He has 3 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
