Memorial Service for Leonard C Hayes, age 89, of Norfolk, Ne were held at 11:30, Saturday, December 6, 2014 at Beyer Snider Memorial Funeral Home in Neligh, with Pastor Janet Davis, Officiating. Visitation was 10:00 a.m. until time of service Saturday, December 6, 2014 at Beyer Snider Memorial Funeral Home in Neligh. Leonard passed away on Monday, December 1, 2014 at Norfolk Veterans Home in Norfolk, Ne. Beyer Snider Memorial Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. In Lieu of Flowers please make donations to Norfolk Veteran Home Member Activities. Leonard Calvin Hayes was born on May 3, 1925 to Theodore and Mary (Box) Hayes in Oakdale, NE. Grew up in Oakdale and graduated from Oakdale High School in 1942. On August 7, 1942 he enlisted in the United States Navy in Omaha, Ne. He was discharged on December 30, 1945 from USNPSC at St. Louis, Mo. On February 11, 1946 he was united in marriage to Magdalene Tichota at Madison Ne. The couple moved to California in 1957 where he worked making air plane parts. 1971 they moved to Neligh. He worked at Ritz-Craft Trailer Factory in Neligh. He retired in 1995. October 2012 they moved to Norfolk to the Veterans Home. Leonard enjoyed fishing, hunting, baseball, football, and jigsaw puzzles. He is survived by his wife and daughters: Gail and husband Don Consoli of Norfolk, Ne, Debbie Desautels of Neligh, Ne, Cindy and husband Guy Lewis of Neligh, Ne, Robin and husband Dave McCleery of Lincoln, Ne. 9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 8 Siblings and spouses: Edgar, Dorothy, Gladys, Harold, Carrie, Thelma, Verna, and Melvin. Son-in-law, Richard Desautels.
