Leola Doreene Schwager

Memorial services for Leola Schwager, age 80 of Clearwater were at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, September 22, 2011 at Snider Memorial Chapel in Clearwater with Pastor Carroll Plisek and Rico Kotrous, Officiating. Music was provided by Carol Thiele and Karol Thiele. Burial was in the Orchard Hills Cemetery. Honorary Pallbearers were Phillip Schwager, Keith Schwager, Shane Schwager, Branden Menning, Michael Menning, Kyle Kester, Michael Borer, Michael Stusse, Allen Koch, Kevin Furnas, and Bill Le. Visitation was from 5:30 to 7:30 Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at Snider Memorial Funeral Home. Mrs. Schwager passed away Saturday, September 17, 2011 at Antelope Memorial Hospital. Leola Doreene (Jones) Schwager was born on the family farm 4 miles South of Royal, Nebraska on February 11, 1931 to Corwin and Mabel (Rouse) Jones. She was the second child of five siblings. She graduated from Neligh High School with the class of 1948. Leola attend college for one year at Wayne to be a teacher. She taught at District 85 for one year. On March 17, 1950 she was united into marriage to David Schwager in Orchard. They made their home on the farm NE of Clearwater and farmed with Dave's parents. She was a homemaker, worked at Dean's GW Grocery Store in Clearwater, CNA at Neligh Nursing Home, and personal care provider for various people in Clearwater.
She loved to make toys, clothes, and crochet afghans for her kids and grandkids. In the last year she made 2 pillows for all her Christmas presents as she had to keep her fingers busy. She was a member of the Pleasant Dale Club for many years, Legion Auxiliary, the Birthday Club and United Methodist Church. Leola received the Good Neighbor Award in 1997.
She is survived by her children: Arlyn Schwager of Clearwater, Ne, Dora Lea and husband Ken Menning of Orchard, NE, Dan and wife Ronda Schwager of Clearwater, Ne, Brian Schwager of Clearwater, Ne. Son-in-law, Rico Kotrous of Lincoln, Ne. 12 Grandchildren, 16 Great Grandchildren, and 1 Great Great Grandchild. Brother, Loris "Bud" and wife Marlene Jones of Loveland, Co. Sister, Laurel and husband Bob Meyer of Orchard, Ne. Sister-in-law, Norma Jones of Neligh, Ne. Many nieces and nephews and a lot of friends.
Preceded in death by her parents, husband (2007), and daughter, Davon Kotrous (2003). Brothers: Leon and Lennis. Sister: Larita Dietz.
