Laura Maulding

November 3, 1906 — June 10, 2004

Laura (Filsinger) Maulding age 97 passed away Thursday, June 10, 2004 at the Neligh Nursing Center. Funeral services were 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 16, 2004 at the Concordia Lutheran Church in Clearwater with Pastor Daniel Feusse officiating. Music was provided by Caroline Jaeke organist and Christopher Filsinger soloist, songs sung were �Amazing Grace,� �What a Friend We Have In Jesus,� �Just As I Am,� and �The Old Rugged Cross.� Burial was in the Clearwater Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jared and Jason Bakewell, Nathan Walter, Josh, Mark, and Steve Malulding. Honorary pallbearers were Jake and Lucas Maulding. Snider Memorial Funeral Home in Clearwater was in charger of arrangements. Laura was born November 3, 1906 at Elgin, NE, the daughter of Daniel and Ellen (Lymath) Filsinger. She grew up in the rural Elgin area and attended Elgin High School, graduating in 1924. She married Elmer Maulding on November 27, 1926 in Neligh, NE and the couple farmed in the Clearwater area. Laura was an ambitious person, working in various stores, serving as a mid-wife to Dr. Bennie, and teaching in several rural schools until becoming an elementary teacher in the Clearwater Public Schools. She worked and studied hard in order to earn her degree from Dana College in Blair at the age of 65. After retiring she served as a substitute teacher for many years. Elmer passed away October 4, 1983 in Norfolk, NE. Laura was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church. She was a very caring and loving person. People with a problem were a big concern for her. Happiness to her was the classroom and the young faces that were in it. Laura�s home was open to all. There was never a lack of sugar cookies, popcorn, and fudge from her kitchen. Survivors include her son Don and wife Betty Maulding of Pierce; a daughter-in-law, Marlene Maulding of Gladstone Michigan; Five grandchildren: Marcy and husband Jeff Bakewell of Omaha,NE, Becky and husband Gene Walter of Norfolk, Steve Maulding, Mark and wife Deb Maulding, Jayne and husband Randy Demeuse, all of Gladstone MI; 11 Great-grandchildren; 1 Great-Great Granddaughter; Two brothers: Dean and wife Laura Mae Filsinger of Norfolk, NE, Merle and wife Maurine Filsinger of Fremont, NE; one sister Mildred Gaughenbaugh of Chadron, NE and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 1 son Ray, 1 daughter-in-law Bonnie, 4 brothers: Edward, Raymond, Harold and one in infancy, 5 sisters: Ethel, Violet, Opal, Wilda and Lois.
