Josephine Funk

Funeral Services for Josephine Funk age 86 of Neligh, Ne were at 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 28, 2011 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Ewing, with Father James Kramper, Officiating. Music was provided by Tom Kimes. Burial was in the St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers were Chuck Sands, Lyle Spangler, Josh Spangler, Travis Dozler, Tanner Dozler, Andrew Ferris. Visitation was at 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Thursday, October 27, 2011 at St. Peter's Catholic Church with a 7:00 p.m. Wake Service. Snider Memorial Funeral Home in Clearwater is handling the arrangement. Josephine passed away Monday, October 24, 2011 at the Golden Living Center in Neligh. Josephine D Funk, the daughter of Frank and Cecelia (Everett) Sands, was born at Ewing, Nebraska on May 8, 1925. She grew up in rural Ewing and attended School District 131. After schooling she helped for many years on the family farm. Which included helping taking care of the cattle, milk cows, raise chickens and helped in the hay field. Her hobbies include horses, vegetables and flower gardening. She spent many hours preserving, canning for the long winter months. She enjoyed baking, also. She enjoyed taking care of her nieces, nephews, and neighbors. Josephine marred Vic Funk on May 18, 1985. Vic proceeded her in death on April 7, 2008. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church for many years. Upon her retirement in 1990, Josephine and her brother Lawrence moved to Ewing and became members of St. Peter's Catholic Church. Josephine will always be remembered for helping others and her love for horses. She is survived by one sister, Frances Spangler of the Golden Living Center in Neligh, NE. She is preceded in death by her parents. Two brothers: Frank and Lawrence. Two sisters: Mary Daniels and Anna Wieting.
