Funeral services for Irol Fae Hoffman, age 86, of Neligh, NE were at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, December 28, 2012 at the Church of Christ in Neligh with Pastor Bob Dainton officiating. Music was provided by Katie Schroeder, Pianist and Steve Johnson, Soloist. Burial was at Laurel Hill. Pallbearers were Matt Hoffman, Brian Hoffman, Darrin Kiger, Jay Petsche, Dylan Petsche, Jim Petsche, John Torseth, Kevin Irish, Connor Irish, and Drew Irish. Visitation was held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 27 at Beyer Snider Memorial Funeral Home in Neligh. Irol passed away on Monday, December 24 at her home in Neligh. Arrangements will be conducted by Beyer Snider Memorial Funeral Home of Neligh. . In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Antelope Memorial Hospital or the MS Society. Irol Hoffman was born on November 29, 1926 in Omaha and adopted by Ernest and Burnice (Buchan) Hopkins. She graduated with the Class of 1944 from Neligh High School. Upon graduation, she worked at J.C.Penney's in Neligh before moving to Omaha to work for a contractor. She was united in marriage to Dean Irish on February 23, 1946. To this marriage were born 3 children: Julie, Karen, and Kevin. She worked as a physician's assistant at Albion Clinic. In 1968 the family moved to Neligh and operated The Shoe Box until 1974. After selling the store, she worked for several years as a bookkeeper for Contois Motor Company. On January 25, 1980 she was united in marriage to Kenneth Hoffman of Brunswick. After Kenneth's death in 1993, Irol returned to Neligh where she enjoyed life with her pet cats, Mr. Mittens and Jonah. She was a member of the Antelope Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and Antelope County Election Board. She is survived by her children: Julie and husband John Torseth of Newton, KS, Karen and husband, Jim Petsche of Neligh, and Kevin Irish and Sheila Kusmierski of Omaha and stepchildren: Renae McKenny of Broomfield, CO, Pam and husband Randy Grosse of Omaha, Matt Hoffman of Ogallala, NE, and the late Jim Hoffman's wife Diane of Brunswick, NE. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren, 16 stepgrandchildren, and several great grandchildren and her special companions, Mr. Mittens and Jonah. Preceded in death by her parents, husband Kennth Hoffman; step son, Jim Hoffman, Brother, Gerald Hopkins. Grandson, Trevan Petsche. Granddaughter, Julie Ann Irish.
