Funeral Services for Inez M. Evans age 102, of Plattsmouth, Ne formally of Neligh, were Monday, January 4, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Neligh with Pastor Janet Davis, officiating. Music was provided by Marie Krohn, Pianist. Visitation was Monday morning, January 4, 2016 from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Church . Burial was at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Pallbearer were Bob Clancy Sr., Bob Clancy Jr., Keevan Clancy, Kylie Clancy, and Kasyn Parsons. Honorary Pallbearer was Ron Cooney. Inez passed away Wednesday, December 30, 2015. Beyer Snider Memorial Funeral Home is handling arrangements. In lieu of flowers she would like memorials to go to the Church or Neligh Senior Citizens Center. Inez M. Evans was born April 27, 1913, at Elgin, Nebraska, to Norman Ward and Labertha Grace (Nott) Earing, moving to Neligh with her parents and three brothers in March, 1920. She graduated from Neligh High School with the Class 1931. Joined the First Congregational United Church in May 1933. Inez worked five years as a clerk at Hesteds Variety Store. On August 25, 1943 at Neligh, she married Lewis V. Evans. Both worked at the Naval Ammunition Depot at Hastings, Nebraska. Moving to Vancouver, Washington, in June 1944. After her husbands death in June 1945, she returned to Neligh in December. Inez then worked two years at Baskets Dress Shop, and twenty-eight years at Westland Studio, for Howard Ashton. She was Secretary-Treasurer for her Church Sunday School since February 1961, served as Deaconess for six years, and a member of the Women's Fellowship.
Inez was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Post 172. She received many special awards from the Senior Citizens Center as a Special Volunteer, the Antelope County Historical Society, and the "Sunshine Award" from KOLN of Lincoln. In 1992 she received the Honored Alumnus Award from the Neligh Oakdale Alumni Association.
She was preceded in death by her husband, (1945), her father (1952), brother, Raymond (1953), her mother (1962), brother, Paul (1965), brother, Howard (1999) and two brothers died in infancy. Nephews, Paul Earing Jr. and William Earring
