Memorial Service for Gene K. Sisson age 83 of Ewing, Nebraska will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 1, 2023 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Ewing, Nebraska with Father Sund, Officiating. Visitation will be Thursday before the service from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Church. Snider Memorial Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Gene Keller Sisson was born on February 10, 1940 to Robley and Helen (Snyder) Sisson at Deloit, Nebraska. Gene attended Ewing High School and graduated with the Class of 1958. He enlisted in the United States Army on August 26, 1958 and was honorably discharged on August 25, 1961; 24 months in Germany. On November 9, 1963, he married LaVonne (Reicks) at St. Cecilia’s Cathedral Church in Omaha, Nebraska. They moved to Ewing in October 1964 and have lived there ever since. He trucked most of his life. He was a member of the Rural Fire Department for 40 years and Baurer Memorial Board for 14 years. He enjoyed junk jaunt, bargain Buy-ways, and any garage sale he could find. Gene was always known to have a sucker in his pocket to share.
Survived by his wife, LaVonne Sisson of Ewing, NE. Children: Jan (Ken) Kunz of Stuart, NE; Joy Sisson of Norfolk, NE; and Jill (Jason) Stamp of Inman, NE. 5 grandchildren Zachary (Rachel) Kunz, Mikayla (Paul) Johnson, Kennison Kunz, Trevor Stamp, and Jett Kunz and two great grandchildren, Harper Elizabeth Johnson and Lilah Grace Johnson. Brother, Dana Sisson; sister-in-laws, Fran Sisson and Dianne Sisson; plus many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents, and two sons, Mark Sisson (1967) and Jay Sisson (1985). A grandson, Paul Joesph Kunz (1998). Brothers, Robley Sisson, William Sisson, Jack Sisson, Ron Sisson, Bobby Sisson, Jerry Sisson and Tom Sisson. Sisters, Betty Sorensen and Marcella Steskal. Nephew, Jack Steskal; niece, Barbara Sisson Hill.
