Funeral Services for Etta Allen, age 88 of Neligh, will be at 10:00 am Thursday, May 2, 2013 at Brunswick Congregational Church in Brunswick, with Pastor Robert Moore, Officiating. Burial will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery in Neligh, NE. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 pm, Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at Beyer Snider Memorial Funeral Home in Neligh, Nebraska. Etta passed away Saturday, April 27, 2013 at Golden Living Center in Neligh, NE. EttaBelle (Bryce) Allen was born on April 9, 1925 to Thomas and Elizabeth (Buck) Bryce in Bloomfield, Nebraska. She spent her childhood in Devils Nest, NE. She had Polio when she was 11 years old and her mother cared for her until she recovered at the age of 12. She attended the Addison Nebraska Country School until the 8th grade, then took 4 years off from school to help her parents. Etta traveled to Stuart, NE at 17 to work on the Thompson Ranch, and attended high school until age 21 in Newport, NE where she graduated from Newport High School in 1946. She returned to Center, NE in 1947 to work as hired help on the farm. While there she met her future husband, Gilbert Allen, and they married in June 12, 1948. Etta moved to the Allen farm, and spent 60 years of her life farming until moving to the Golden Living Center in 2011. She was a member of Crawford Valley Methodist Church of Plainview. To the many people who were so kind to our Mother in her life, we her children want to Thank You. She was a unique and strong woman that would help anyone that needed help. She enjoyed a good laugh, and liked Mountain Dew. We were blessed to call her our Mom. She is survived by her children: Donna (Ron) Hanson of Oakdale, NE, Barbara (Randy) Murray of Warrenton, VA, Russell Allen of Neligh, NE, Polly Allen of Pierce, NE, and Jane Weinrich of Lincoln, NE. Adopted son, Robert Moore, of Elgin, NE and Jerry Weinrich of Norfolk, NE. Grandchildren: Terri Marie (Tony) Bentley, Todd (Cindy) Weinrich, Travis (Sandra) Weinrich, Trisha (Payton) Weinrich, Tate Weinrich, Justin (Heather) Grebe, Jodi (Tim) Barg, Bryce (Jen) Grebe, Amanda Avidano, Mason Allen, Iya Murray, Jeremy (Kelly) Hanson, Tanya (Ryan) Gallagher, Trevor (Ashley) Hanson, Jared Hanson. Great Grandchildren: Toni Marie Bentley, Josh Bentley, Alishia (Jordan) Nelson, Carly Schwager, Maddox Weinrich, Trenton Payton, Tyler John Payton, Austin Weinrich, Blake Weinrich, Cooper Grebe, Dylan Barg, Mercedes Barg, Taylor Hanson, Tyson Hanson, Trevin Hanson, Jackson Gallagher, Jordan Gallagher. Great Great Grandchild: Kayne Nelson. Sister, Esther Michaelson of Neligh, NE. Preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Allen (2004) and son, Roger Allen. Granddaughter, Trisha Weinrich, son-in-law, Terry Weinrich. Siblings: Mavis Blair, Mary Sukup, Jim Bryce, and Evelyn Forsell.
