Funeral Services for Dorothy Tinsley, age 92 of Neligh, were at 10:30 am Monday, April 15, 2013 at United Methodist Presbyterian Church in Ewing, with Pastor Eric Ford, Officiating. Music was provided by Doris Ann Bollwitt, Organist and Joe and Nancy Evans and daughter, Natalie, Soloists. Burial was in Laurel Hill Cemetery in Neligh, NE. Pallbearers were Scott Pofahl, Brett Pofahl, Shannon Tinsley, Dustin Tinsley, Troy Boggs, and Justin Judge. Honorary Pallbearers were Ewing U.W. Society. Visitation was from 4:00 to 7:00 pm, Sunday, April 14, 2013 at Beyer Snider Memorial Funeral Home in Neligh, Nebraska. Dorothy passed away Thursday, April 11, 2013 at Faith Regional Hospital in Norfolk, NE.
Arrangements are being conducted by Snider Memorial Funeral Home of Neligh. Dorothy Alice (Bennett) Tinsley was born on June 6, 1920 to Charley and Ruth (Huston) Bennett at Meadow Grove, NE. She grew up in the Neligh area. Dorothy graduated with the Class of 1936 from Neligh High School. On November 28, 1938 she was united into marriage to James Tinsley in her parents' home in Neligh. They were married for 57 years. They made their home in Cherry County for 10 years where their children, Judy and Duane, were born. In 1949, they moved to the Cooper Ranch south of Ewing. In 1968, they moved to their ranch west of Clearwater, where they raised Black Angus Cattle. James passed away in 1995, at that time she moved to Neligh. Dorothy enjoyed cooking, fishing, and traveling. She was a member of the United Church Women at Methodist Presbyterian Church in Ewing. She was baptized at Ewing Methodist Church. She is survived by her Son, Duane and wife Judy Tinsley of Neligh and Son-in-law Butch Pofahl of Blair, NE. 8 Grandchildren: Todd, Scott, Brett (Tricia) Pofahl, Kim Toft, Julie (John) Wilhelm, Shannon Tinsley, Bridget (Rob) Cormier, Dustin (Candi) Tinsley. 14 great grandchildren. Sister Gladys Bennett of Elgin. Brother-in-law, Lyle Miller of Neligh, NE and Sister-in-law Leora Bennett of Neligh, NE. She is preceded in death by her parents, and husband. Daughter Judy Pofahl. Brother Charles and sisters Lena Miller and Darlene Dietz.
