Funeral Services for Dorothy Ahlstedt age 94 of Neligh were 1:30 pm, Monday, March 17, 2014 at the Church of Christ in Neligh with Pastor Bob Dainton, Officiating. Music was provided by Lynda Puls. Burial was in Laurel Hill Cemetery in Neligh. Pallbearers were Jeff Wahler, Carter Ahlstedt, Spade Smith, Matthew Ahlstedt, Heath Krebs, and Tad Hansen. Visitation was from 4:00- 6:00 pm, Sunday, March 16, 2014 at Beyer-Snider Memorial Funeral Home in Neligh. She passed away Wednesday , March 12, 2014 at the Golden Living Center in Neligh. Dorothy May Ahlstedt was born March 21, 1919 at Wood Lake, NE to Leslie and Elizabeth May (Sharman) Hookham. She attended high school at Neligh High School. She was united in marriage to Willis "Bill" Ahlstedt, Sr. on December 12, 1940 in Lincoln, Ne. They farmed north of Neligh until retiring in 1976. She worked for over 26 years for the nursing home in Neligh doing laundry. Bill passed away March 12, 1995 at Neligh. The couple spent over 54 years together. Dorothy passed away on the same day 19 years later. She enjoyed gardening, a very large garden of vegetables and flowers. She enjoyed reading books everyday, her cats and her family and friends. She is survived by her children; Naomi Smith of Littleton, CO; Willis Jr. and Judy Ahlstedt of Neligh; Jean and Dave Johnson of Webster, SD; Joann and Milan Vondracek of Westminister, CO; Dan and Kathy Ahlstedt of O'Neill, NE; Terry Ahlstedt of Lincoln. 14 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a brother Clyde.
