Funeral Services for Dean Jones age 84, of Neligh, were at 10:00 am, December 9, 2013 at Church of Christ in Neligh, NE with Pastor Bob Dainton, Officiating. Music was provided by Kay Stearns, Pianist and Solists were Andrea Clements, Shirley Stearns, Christina Stearns, and Benjamin Stearns. Visitation was from 6 -8 pm Sunday, December 8, 2013 at the Beyer Snider Memorial Funeral Home, in Neligh. Burial will be at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Neligh with Military Rites by Neligh American Legions Post #172. Pallbearers were Dwaine Jones, Kenneth Dredge, Bob Dredge, Steven Dredge, Michael Dredge, David Dredge, and Jeremy Dredge. Arrangements are being conducted Beyer Snider Memorial Funeral Home in Neligh. Dean passed away Thursday, December 5, 2013 at Faith Region Hospital in Norfolk, NE. Delano Dean Jones was born to Albert and Anna (Liddy) Jones in Elgin, Ne on December 30, 1928. Dean attended country school near Elgin. On December 1, 1948 he enlisted in the United States Air Force in Norfolk, NE. He was discharged on September 5, 1953 at Charleston Air Force Base Charleston, South Carolina. He married Annabelle Edwards on November 1, 1952 at Miami, FL. He operated a TV/Sales Service shop there. They moved to Neligh, 1960 where he worked at the Neligh Hatchery, constructing building homes with his brother-in-law, and worked at the mobile home trailer factory from when it first opened until the factory closed. Annabelle passed away in 1993. Dean was the maintenance man at the Antelope County Court House for 22 years. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Loudenslager Dredge on June 1, 1996 in Oakdale, Ne. Dean loved fixing things that were broken or patching them back together. He enjoyed woodworking and made many things for the family. He was a member of Neligh American Legion Post #172, the Church of Christ, and was a church Deacon there. Survivors are his wife, Dorothy. Children: Russell and Renee Mawson of Suwanee, GA, Shirley and David Stearns, of Norfolk, NE, Dwaine and Lisa Jones of Hickman, NE, Georgia and Richard Tournear of Quincy, IL, Kenny Dredge and Karen Walker of Lincoln, NE, Donna Sack of Hooper, NE, David and Alma Dredge of Phoenix, AZ, Bob and Joelene Dredge of Fremont, NE, Steven Dredge of Omaha, NE, Michael and Jamie Dredge of Lincoln, Ne, Amy VanHoose of Hannibal, MO, Jeremy and Regina Dredge of Lewistown, MO and son-in-law, Robert Sharples. 35 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and 30 great great grandchildren. He is proceeded in death by his parents and his first wife, Annabelle. Daughter, Barbara Sharples and her first husband, Gene Henry. Brothers and sisters: Albert, Charles, Maurice, Donald, Kenneth, Ella, Lloyd, Dale, Lottie, Faye, and Betty Lou.
