Funeral Services for David Smith, age 59 of Neligh, NE was 10:30 am, Saturday, July 21, 2012 at United Methodist Church in Elgin, with Rev. Michael Davis, Officiating. Music was provided by Carolyn Johnson, Organist and Doug & Deb Jones as Soloists. Pallbearers were Cody Harbourt, Nathan Harbourt, Joel Eisenhauer, Chad Warneke, John Havlicek, and Jarod Spiegel. Honorary Pallbearers were Stan Bode, Bill Graber, Glen Poessnecker, Tom Stoltz, Tom Kinney, Rollie Huffman, Bob Otter, Frank Flenniken, John Draper, Dan Vanourney, and Tom DeCamp. Inurnment will be at a later date in St. Boniface Cemetery. Visitation was from 5 - 8 pm, Friday, July20, 2012 at Beyer Snider Memorial Funeral Home in Neligh. David passed away on July 18, 2012 at his home in Neligh, NE. David Leroy Smith was born on March 28, 1953 to Leland (Lee) and Marie (Carley) Smith at Ainsworth, Nebraska. He attend school at Elgin Public High School. On January 1, 1991, he was united in marriage to Peggy Mittan at Rapid City, South Dakota. To this marriage they had a daughter, Carley Smith. He ran the White Spot Bar & Grill in Neligh for some time and then drove truck for many years. He received the outstanding Truck Driver award by the State of Nebraska. He loved fishing and hunting. Survived by his daughter, Carley Smith and grand-daughter, Kenadee Watson both of Neligh, Ne. His parents, Lee and Marie Smith, of Elgin, Ne. Sisters: Connie Hankin of Lexington, KY, Karen and husband, Jim Eisenhauer of Bloomfield, Ne, and Pam Smith of Orchard, Ne. Several nieces, nephews, and friends. Preceded in death by his dog, Sophie and his grandparents.
