Funeral services for Carol Marie (Clouse) Griffith age 58 of Bartlett formerly of Vandalia, IL. was at 1:30 pm Wednesday, August 13, 2008 at United Methodist Church in Bartlett with Pastor Bonnie Phillips, officiating. Music was provided by Beth Clouse as organist and soloist. Pallbearers were Van Volk, Jerry Clouse, Rick Clouse, Jason Held, Aaron Clouse, Brent Clouse. Burial was in the Bartlett Cemetery. Visitation was from 5:00 to 8:00 pm, Tuesday, August 12, 2008 at Snider Memorial Funeral Home in Elgin.
Carol passed away Saturday, August 9, 2008 at Faith Regional in Norfolk, Ne. Arrangements are being conducted by Snider Memorial Funeral Home of Elgin.
Carol was born on August 28, 1949 to Cecil and JoEllyn (Hertel) Clouse in O’Neill, NE. Carol grew up in the Bartlett area, receiving her elementary education at the Red Top Country School northwest of Bartlett. She graduated from Wheeler County High School in 1967. Upon graduation she attended the North Platte Beauty Academy and graduated with a degree in cosmetology in March of 1968. Carol returned to open her own shop in Spalding, NE and later moved to Lincoln, Ne where she continued to work in a beauty salon.
Carol married Terry Soots on January 19, 1974 in Lincoln, NE. They moved to Illinois where they operated a dairy farm. Carol also worked and later became owner of her own beauty shop, Clip N Curl, in Greenville, IL which she operated for over 30 years.
Carol was a member of the Women of the Moose in Vandalia, IL which she served as treasurer for several years. She also enjoyed golf, spending time with her friends and family. The highlight of her day was spending time with her grandson Brayden. Carol enjoyed life and lived everyday to the fullest.
Carol is survived by her parents, Cecil and JoEllyn Clouse of Bartlett, NE; one daughter, Abby Enslow and husband Mark of Petersburg, NE; 2 brothers; Ken Clouse and wife Beth of Springfield, NE; David Clouse of Ericson, NE; one grandson Brayden Lee Enslow of Petersburg, NE; uncle Bus Clouse of Neligh, NE; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Carol was preceded in death by her grandparents along with several aunts, uncles and cousins.
