Funeral Service for Billy “Bill” Ziegenbein age 76 of Orchard will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 14, 2024 at the Royal Auditorium in Royal, Nebraska. Burial will be in Royal Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at the Royal Auditorium. Snider Memorial Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Billy “Bill” Dean Ziegenbein was born on September 30, 1947 in Omaha. He was adopted by Jesse "Glen" and Neslye (Landreth) Ziegenbein. He attended school in Orchard and graduated with the Class of 1965 from Orchard High School. Bill met Melody Shuck while in Grand Island, they married in 1967. From that union they had two children Tami & Cory. The marriage dissolved in 1975. Bill met Susan Block while in Omaha, they married in 1980. From this union they had two children Tina & Dana. This marriage dissolved in 1996. Bill married Diana Palmer on June 20, 1998 in Clearwater, Nebraska. Bill drove truck, farmed with his father Glen, worked road construction for 10 years, drove garbage truck in O’Neill; and he was currently helping local farmers. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, and tearing things apart. He was a member of Nite Owls Motorcycle Club. Bill was active in the Royal community, he joined the fire department in 1981 and was a member until 1997. He was second assistant chief from 1986 until he quit in 1997. During this time he helped with many fund raising events.
Survived by his wife, Diana Ziegenbein of Orchard. Children: Cory and Sherrie Ziegenbein of Lincoln, NE; Tami Ziegenbein of Wright WY; Tina Ziegenbein of Creighton, NE; step children: LeAnne McGraw of Kansas; Ervin Mace of Garretson, SD; Stephanie Orozco, Sioux City, IA; Leo Mace of Sioux City, IA; Travis Mace of Neligh, NE. Several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Roy and Betty Rodgers of Neligh, NE.
Preceded in death by his parents: son, Dana; half brother Wesley and half sister Ruth Ann Rodgers; and several aunts and uncles.
