Funeral services for Berniece Anna Elizabeth Lucas age 92 of Clearwater were at 10:30 am Wednesday June 18, 2008 at Snider Memorial Funeral Home in Clearwater with Pastor Sharee Johnson, officiating. Music was provided by Tom Kimes, soloist and Carol Thiele, organist. Burial will be in the Clearwater Cemetery. Pallbearers were Mark Brady, Dale McCall, Alan McCall, Pete Willson, and Nathan Bargmann. Honorary pallbearers were Bob Brady, Richard McCall, and William McCall. Burial was in the Clearwater Cemetery. Visitation was from 5 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 17, 2008 with a 7:30 pm prayer service at Snider Memorial Funeral Home in Clearwater. Berniece passed away Sunday June 15, 2008 at the Golden Living Center in Neligh. Memorials may be directed to the Clearwater United Methodist Church, Hospice, and Alzheimers.

Berniece Anna Elizabeth Lucas was born on February 20, 1916 in Clearwater, Nebraska, their third child of Gus and Elizabeth Daniels. She graduated from Clearwater High School in 1934. She worked as nanny and housekeeper in Ewing. On December 28, 1935 she married Thomas Lucas in West Point, Nebraska. Berniece spent her time as a housewife and mother to her two daughters. She Cooked at the Clearwater Public School, at the Nursing Home in Neligh, and at the Neligh Public School. She retired in 1981. Berniece was a hardworking woman with the sweetest disposition. She could always see the good in everyone and was always very giving to her family and friends. She loved being with people, although at times was very quiet in a crowd of people.

Berniece was a member of the Garden Club, Clearwater United Methodist Women, and Clearwater Creek Club. She enjoyed her flowers, gardening, fishing, playing cards, and being involved in the community.

Survivors include 2 daughters: Marlene and her husband Bob Brady of Omaha, NE, and Ardene McCall of Sioux Falls, SD; 6 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Tom, a son in law David McCall, and brothers: Albert, Harold and Bud (Walter) Daniels; and sisters: Annabelle Wright, Viola Finwall
