Barry Willis Peterson

Graveside Services for Barry Peterson, age 63 of Neligh, was at 10:30 am Thursday, March 28, 2013 at West Cedar Valley Cemetery in Elgin, NE with Pastor Janet Davis, Officiating. Military Rites conducted by Neligh American Legion and VFW. Barry passed away Sunday, March 24, 2013. Barry Peterson was born on December 7, 1949 to Harold and Margaret (Detlefsen) Peterson in Elgin, Nebraska. He graduated from Neligh High School. On September 9, 1968 he enlisted in the United States Navy and was discharged on September 8, 1972. In June, 1976 he was united into marriage to Ellen Carlson at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Neligh. To this marriage they had one daughter Annette. He worked for numerous farmers helping them and welding. Barry enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of V.F.W in Neligh. He is survived by his daughter, Annette and husband Matt VanMeter of Sioux City, IA. Grandchildren: Chloe and Jakob. Sisters and Brothers: Sharron Mickelson of Neligh, NE, Jeanette and husband Loren Hansen of Plainview, NE, Terry and wife Donna Peterson, of Neligh, NE, Allen and wife, Gesila Peterson of Fountain, CA, Dean Peterson, of Neligh, NE, Ronnie and wife Louise Peterson, of Carlsbad, CA, Ellen Heermann, Neligh, NE. Sister-in-law, Jeannie Peterson of Neligh, NE. Preceded in death by parent. Brothers: Darryl, Lee, and Lynn.
