Alice Marie Funk

Funeral services for Alice Funk age 88 of Clearwater, Ne were 10:00 am, Friday, July 25, 2014 at St. John's Catholic Church rural Clearwater with Father James Kramper, Officiating. Music was provided by Carol Thiele, Organist. Mark and Julie Dwyer and St. John's Choir. Burial was in St. Patrick's Cemetery. Pallbearers were Aaron Kimes, Nathan Kimes, John Paul Kimes, Benjamin Meis, Bart Meis, Eric Meis, Adrian Feijoo, Garrett Dwyer, Kylee Funk, Adam Funk, Jared Breay, Ethan Breay, Brandon Funk, and Justin Funk. Visitation was Thursday, July 24, 2014 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm with a 7:00 Wake service at the church. Alice passed away Monday, July 21, 2014 at Antelope Memorial Hospital in Neligh. Arrangements are being conducted by Snider Memorial Funeral Home in Clearwater. Alice Marie Elizabeth Thramer Funk was born on March 20, 1926 to Joseph and Elizabeth (Rotherham) Thramer at her grandparents home rural Ewing, NE. She grew up on the farm west of Knievel's Store until 1938, when they moved to Antelope County. She attended country school until 8th grade. Her parents wanted her to attend a catholic high school so she lived with her grandmother while attending Sacred Heart High School in Norfolk, Ne and graduated with the Class of 1943. After graduating from High School she worked at the Fair Store in Norfolk, Ne. On April 22, 1946, she was united in marriage to Clarence Funk at St. John's Catholic Church rural Clearwater. Alice was an excellent cook, enjoyed baking, reading, dance, and music. She especially enjoyed being with her family. Her coffee pot was always on. She was a member of the Christian Mother's at St. John's Catholic Church. Survived by her children: Elaine (Tom) Kimes of Clearwater, NE, Jodine (Marvin) Meis of Elgin, NE, Janette Feijoo of Denver, CO, Mary Alice (Mike) Dwyer of Bartlett, NE, Jim (Bev) Funk of Clearwater, NE, Elizabeth (Ed) Funk Breay of Greeley, CO, Ron (Angela) Funk of Clearwater, NE. 26 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren. Sister, Bernadine (Bob) Walnofer of O'Neill, NE. Sister-in-laws: Yvonne Thramer of Ewing, NE, Joan Thramer and Joyce Thramer of both of O'Neill, NE, Marilyn Ziska of Atkinson, NE, and Vera Dell Stuhr of Elgin, NE. Preceded in death by: her parents, husband passed away 1999, infant son, Jerry. Sister, Loretta Tagel and husband Ludwig. Brothers: Alex, Mark, and Clet Thramer. Brother's-in-law: Phillip Thiele, LaVern Stuhr, and Kenny Ziska. Son-in-law, Julio Feijoo. Father-in-law and mother-in-law, Leo and Margaret Funk. Great grandson, Elliot Dooner.
